How To Remove Bad or Negative Reviews on Google

If your business has been hit with an exceptionally raw review on Google, there can be some chance of having the review removed:

1) Contest at the Source: Many Google reviews are imported from other sites, such as Judy’s Book or CitySearch.  Each of these sites have their own policies for defaming content, sexual content, contains personally identifying information, and so on.

2) Click as “Not Useful”:  Each Google review can be rated as Useful, or Not Useful.  If enough votes come in as Not Useful, without any counterbalancing Useful votes, the negative review can be removed.  Note that the Not Useful votes must come in from different IP addresses, so encourage your friends and family to vote on the review from their computers.

3) Report to Google an inappropriate:  Keep in mind that Google receives thousands of appeals each day from aggrieved business owners.  It’s not enough that a review is damaging, or even wrong.  Rather, a review must be patently against the Google terms of service, so make your argument short and to that point.

4) Ask the Reviewer to Remove: First, for whoever let the negative comment, take care of that person’s concerns to his satisfaction, even if he’s wrong.  After the issue is resolved, then ask the reviewer to remove the negative comment. Even if he doesn’t, then ask him to post a follow-up comment the the original problem has now been resolved.

5) Response to the complaint, carefully.  Never blast the reviewer or argue with them.  Instead, show the reviewer your concerns and how you want to address the issue.  Remember, the world will be reading your response.  The point isn’t so much who is right or wrong, but instead, how you want to make the customer satisfied.

Finally, be patient. There is no magic bullet, but with consistency over time, bad and negative review on Google can be removed.
